This is my favorite way to eat winter squash! With the sweet flavor of the brown sugar and the smokey flavor of the smoker, you can't go wrong!
A perfect side dish to any hardy meal, but I will occasionally do one of these for lunch! This easy recipe is sure to be a family favorite!
Ingredients:
Acorn Squash
Butter
Brown Sugar
Step 1: Carefully cut your acorn squash in half.
Step 2: Remove seeds and clean out the center of each half.
Step 3: (Optional) Score the inside flesh of the squash.
Step 4: Put about 1/2-1 Tablespoon of Butter in each half.
Step 5: Add Brown Sugar to each half, as much or as little as you like.
Step 6: Smoke for 2-2.5 hours at 275 degrees, using whatever woodchips you want (I usually use Apple), until fork tender.
Alternatives:
-You can also do this in the oven and adjust your temp and time. Usually, 350 degrees for an hour does the trick.
-You can use other winter squash as well, some of my other favorites are Hubbard and Buttercup. Adjust cook time based on size of squash.
